When most people think of Dallas,Tx they think of good southern food, shopping and perfect little suburbia.  While the white picket fence and family are home for some in Dallas, there is much more to the city than meets the eye.  Dallas is also filled with much hurt, pain, and longing for something bigger than itself.  The streets are filled with homelessness and there is even a part of the city where you can find all the nations living in one location.

As you look to sign up for a mission trip, you probably look for new experiences, a new people group that you have yet to encounter, and for growth in yourself as you help others.  All of these things can be exciting as you are looking for a place to serve, but what about looking for something that will push you out of your comfort zone? What would it look like for you to choose a location that will push you into greater things by pushing you out of comfort first?
"If we never get out of our comfort zones, we can't grow into the places God has prepared for us."
-Seth Barnes, Kingdom Journeys:Rediscovering the Lost Spiritual Discipline
Ministry in Dallas will do just that, help get you into new depths by pushing you out into new places first.
Our most recent team in Dallas got pushed out of their comfort zones when they did house visits in a more dangerous part of town.  This area is known for gangs, drugs and violence. It is in desperate need of the love of Jesus, so that is where the team headed. The team went door to door giving people food donations and inviting them to church that evening.  They were pushed to pray and share the news of Jesus to strangers on the streets who would normally not seem approachable to them.  The team pushed past their own fears and judgments toward the neighborhood people trusting in the protection of the Lord and choosing to love the people no matter what.  They stepped out of their comfort zone and the Lord grew them in big ways through this experience.
Are you ready to step out of your comfort zone and experience what God has prepared for you?
