As summer is right around the corner and trips are filling
up, we wanted to share a little about the work that will be done in Dallas this
year. We are partnering with a couple
different ministry partners through out the weeks, with our focus being coming
along side the refugee and homeless communities in the Dallas area. One
ministry partner that we are really excited about is Dallas International
Street Church.
This ministry is ran by pastor Karen, a spunky and loving
woman who has given her heart to the homeless community of south Dallas. Pastor Karen is doing so many things in her
community to help the people receive the love of Jesus. They hold a service at the church every night
as well as serve hot meals to the people daily. The members of the church are Karen’s staff as
well, helping her run the place. So the
idea of family and everyone looking after one another is how they do life.
While our teams are in Dallas we will be coming along side
Pastor Karen and International Street Church.
Some activities that we have planned are to help with food distribution,
work in the church store, get the community garden up and going, and put on
Wet, Wild, and Wacky Wednesday! This is
a children’s outreach program that we will put together involving food, water
games, a Sunday school skit and presentation.
We will love on the children and their families while sharing the story
of Jesus, and get wet and wild!
We are so excited to spend our summer with this ministry,
making a difference while there in Dallas and at the same time getting ideas to
bring back to make a difference in our own neighborhoods!
